Motherhood and Law - an SYLA Women in Law event
Wednesday 1st April
6:00 PM
Online
Scottish Young Lawyers Association are hosting an online panel discussion about balancing motherhood and a successful legal career. Many have succumbed to the notion that you can only excel at one or the other, and that in order to do both, compromises must be made. The panel will discuss the truth behind this by reflecting on their own experiences and will look to offer contextual advice to the SYLA membership on juggling parenthood and being a solicitor.
Panel speakers are:
-
Ruth Charteris KC – Solicitor General for Scotland
-
Dr Naeema Sajid – Founder of Diversity+
-
Claire McCracken – Regional Office Head for Scotland and Partner at Weightmans
-
Laura Meldrum – Senior Associate at Harper Macleod, Co-Chair of Women in Law Scotland
The session will consist of a panel discussion, with a Q&A at the end. Members are welcomed to submit questions in advance via email to mail@syla.co.uk.

Reveal your Ally: Allyship in the Scottish Legal Sector
Postponed - TBC
Who is your ally and why?

In collaboration with the Law Society of Scotland and the Edinburgh Foundation for Women in Law (University of Edinburgh), Diversity+ brings you this in-person event, celebrating women and their supportive allies, everywhere.

This event is designed for us to embrace and reveal the allies in our lives that support us, personally or professionally - those key individuals we turn to for guidance, sense checks and support when we feel vulnerable and unsure or when we are looking to advance our careers.

Attendees are encouraged to bring ‘their plus one’ to this event and share first-hand how the power of allyship helps them reach their career goals.
